Taylor Swift Releases “Delicate” Music Video
By Kara Johnson
After all of the pining and patience and anticipation and desperately waiting, Taylor Swift’s music video for “Delicate” is finally here.
The pop superstar debuted her music video for “Delicate” on Sunday night (March 11) during the iHeartRadio music awards after winning Female Vocalist of the Year. Joseph Kahn reunites with Swift as her director in this sad but hopeful music video. Throughout the video, the songstress deals with the pressures of red carpet interviews, fame, security guards and her army of fans. After entering her hotel, she discovers a note that allows her to become invisible and gives her freedom to go unnoticed in crowded places, while also being herself.
The pop star dances her way through her hotel and rainy streets to finally arrive at a dive bar, to meet what appears to be her crush, but that is left up to interpretation. But in the end, it’s evident she finally finds herself. The symbolism in the video is clear and it effortlessly showcases the storyline of the anxiety-ridden track.
“Delicate” was filmed over two days in Downtown Los Angeles at the Biltmore Hotel and other landmarks around the city. After all the waiting for one of our favorite tracks from reputation, we can finally say that it was worth it. “Delicate” is by far our favorite video from the reputation era as it showcases sadness, vulnerability, and Swift being her true self. We couldn’t ask for anything better than that.
