Will & Grace (Hulu)

If you haven’t watched Will & Grace yet, where have you been? With the recent, wildly successful rebooted season 9, there’s no better time to binge it!

The show was seriously groundbreaking when it first aired on NBC in 1998, and went on to become one of the most successful television shows featuring gay characters. Although it got some heat for their portrayal of gay characters as catty, flamboyant, and all-around stereotypical, it was still a huge step for the LGBTQ community.

For those who don’t know, Will & Grace is about, well, Will and Grace, a gay lawyer and a straight interior designer, who are best friends in New York City. They dated in college before Will came out of the closet, and then became best friends and eventual roommates. Through the years, we follow their wacky dating misadventures, their disputes over their codependency, and of course, Will’s family struggling with him being gay.

Of course the real stars of the show are Will’s longtime friend, Jack, who is the definition of flamboyant, and Karen, Grace’s assistant. The two are shallow, crude, rude, and completely ridiculous, and that’s why we all love them! Even Jack, the seemingly indestructible, proud gay man, struggles with the idea of coming out to his mother at one point in the series.

It might be a slapstick comedy, but Will & Grace has some seriously touching moments throughout its nine season run. Plus, anyone in the LGBTQ community knows that your real family are the ones you choose to keep in your life, and Will, Grace, Jack, and Karen have some of the best friendships in the world.
