Avengers: Infinity War officially has LEGO sets out today

With the new release date for Avengers: Infinity War, is it any wonder that the merchandising push is starting now with official looks at the LEGO sets?

Avengers: Infinity War has a lot of toys. That’s not a prediction, but that is a fact. Look at the Black Panther merchandise and tell me Marvel, Disney and their partners didn’t plan even more for Infinity War.

Speaking of partners, though, LEGO is always a good stop for some information on the show. We’ve covered the leaked photos before, but the official sets are on sale today, and there’s a press release — and snazzy high-quality photos to match — with all the details.

What’s better than looking at the biggest set first? Clocking in at just over 1,000 pieces is the “Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown,” which has a stupendous amount of Ss to make it a tongue-twister worthy of the Sorcerer Supreme himself. Although there’s not a closeup of the Spider-Man minifig included, we already knew that it would include four additional arms, and you can spot it in photos like this:

It’s hard not to like the spiderweb pieces here. Additionally, the Sanctum’s iconic window looks pretty great even in plastic. There’s a lot of detail there, really.

That detail extends to the sheer amount of stuff that comes in the box:

Iron Man probably doesn’t need that many blasts, but at the same time we really can’t be mad about it. The major question here is whether or not this is based on something actually from the film. We’ve seen that things probably get messy at the Sanctum in the trailer, but is Spider-Man actually there? We’re not sure.

Speaking of, where’s Wong and Bruce Banner? We see them in the trailer together with Tony and Stephen.

Spider-Man gets the coolest stuff, though:

That’s right, you can actually have Spider-Man crawl up walls. It’s not worth the entire price of admission — a solid $99.99 by the way — but it’s still pretty cool.

Basically guaranteeing Shuri’s presence on our screens twice in one year is the “Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack” set, since it comes with a Shuri minifig (and her gauntlets, too). This one is pretty snazzy even though it’s not a full 1,000 pieces, but rather a mere 416. That does mean that the price is lower, though, at $39.99.

It does come with Vision and Black Panther minifigs as well. Here’s the ultimate impression we’re supposed to get of it:

Granted, we’ll still put our money on Wakandan technology and vibranium, but when it takes two superheroes and a super genius to fend off an assault, that’s still worrisome, right? Captain America is also curiously missing, since we know he arrives in Wakanda due to the trailer.

Well, he’s not completely missing from the LEGO line as a whole, though. Check out the “Outrider Dropship Attack.” It’s the smallest set here at 124 pieces.

The product description attached actually confirms that this is meant to happen in Wakanda, so there’s a question of timing here.

Admittedly, LEGO usually does good work, but it feels like the hairpiece for the Cap minifig is just a little too light. The beard is spot-on, though.

Iron Man gets some extra love here with a second set known as “Thanos: Ultimate Battle,” the second-largest set in this line at 674 pieces.

Hey there, Gamora! Looking good, especially with the sword.

And yes, as leaked photos suggested long ago, Bruce Banner gets to take a ride in the Hulkbuster with “The Hulkbuster Smash-Up,” which is a nice pun and a good size at 375 pieces:

The Falcon looks great here — check out the detail on his wings.

And finally comes Thor with “Thor’s Weapon Quest,” a 223-piece set.

A careful look at the Thor minifig shows that he doesn’t have his eyepatch, although we see him with it in the trailer. Perhaps things will change for Thor? At least his hair’s the same.
