The new Avengers Funko figures seriously dropped the ball

If you’re wondering why we need two Funkos of the same character from Infinity War, don’t worry! So are we!

With the new release of some of the Funko Pop! figures for Avengers: Infinity War, something is glaringly clear: they think we need a Captain America facing the front and then one where he is turned slightly. In a bizarre twist, the creators of the Funkos have decided to release two versions of Cap, Peter Parker, Tony Stark, Thor, Groot and Thanos.

Only one for Black Widow, though. And Scarlet Witch, you get nothing.

It’s a weird choice seeing as we already have loads of Funkos for these characters. They could have expanded the first wave and given us more Black Widow with her new hair or even a glimpse to Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

Instead, we get repeats of characters we already have at the ready and two different version of Thanos. Honestly, who is going to buy Thanos?

There are no Black Panther characters, but the argument there is that they just had Funkos being released for the movie. But still, no Bucky Barnes? Bruce Banner is, apparently, coming later, but why not release all of the Avengers in one go and do the villains later on?

It just doesn’t make much sense from a marketing standpoint. There’s a character there that no one knows about, so why not wait until closer to the movie to release it? Or, even better, release one version of Steve Rogers, and then wait and release the other later — at least so another Funko can have that spot.

No matter the strategy, I’m definitely going out and buying myself a Black Widow with her new hair (which I may have copied when I got my hair done). But hopefully the Scarlet Witch will also get her due as well as the rest of the Avengers team.
