25 (non-Bravo) real life housewives who are pretty badass

Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell has been so outspoken about her role as wife and mother, and frankly, it’s about time someone offered some real talk about what those things can mean to a woman right now. She often offers funny (and humiliating) stories about how her children test her patience, her husband works her nerves and how her work can sometimes get in the way (and vice versa). She’s a damned delight, and she should write a “How to do life” book immediately.
She is always so open and vulnerable when she talks about her life that she offers a sense that you’re going to be okay, too. As a contemporary mother and professional, I need to hear this … a lot. She is the human form of “atta girl” and she makes it seem like we’re in it together, and I can’t stress how much I appreciate that.
Professionally, this woman is killing it. I mean killing it. She has one of the smartest new comedies airing right now (go watch The Good Place immediately, folks) and has embodied more iconic roles than most other actresses to date — she is the voice of Gossip Girl and Anna from Frozen as well as Veronica Mars. You can’t get more epic than this. She is also an outspoken advocate for environmental issues and animal rights, and singlehandedly put sloths back in the cultural lexicon.
Bell has an adept talent for contextualizing some of the more complicated and hard-to-express moments about being a woman, and she is alway working to create a sisterhood among other women. I want to be Kristen Bell’s sister. Don’t you?
