Taylor Swift is Third Biggest Global Recording Artist of 2017
By Kara Johnson
Taylor Swift is easily one of the biggest artists of today and 2017 proved that she is in fact, unstoppable. No one can top her and that is evident with every success.
2017 was a big year for Swift. The global superstar ended her long hiatus and lunged back into the spotlight with a huge social media blackout, an iconic music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” a best-selling album that is still garnered many career successes, and yes, she has even broken records. Needless to say, Swift is well off and she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Recently the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) announced their top 10 global recording artists of 2017. Many artists were included such as Ed Sheeran, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and more. Swift, who released her sixth studio album reputation, scored third place. The album has debuted at No.1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has since topped charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway, The U.K. and the U.S.
Not only does this make Swift the No.3 best selling artist of 2017, she is the only female in the top 10 this year, and only two other females (Adele, and Swift herself) have placed in the global top 10 year-end list in the last five years. You can check out everyone who made the list below:
