Fantastic Beasts actress joins Captain Marvel as villain

If you’re looking for places to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actress Gemma Chan, look no further. She’s making her move from one popular franchise to another, and this time as a villain.

Gemma Chan is best known as AMC’s Human’s Mia, but she also played Madam Ya Zhou in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Well, now it’s time to see her move to another franchise. This time it’s the Marvel franchise, where she’ll take on the role of a highly popular villain in the upcoming Captain Marvel.

Very little is known about the upcoming Marvel movie plot, except that now it looks like Doctor Minerva is making her way into the series, known as Minn-Erva in the movie, scheduled for 2019. In the comic lore, Dr. Minerva is a Kree geneticist with similar powers to Captain Marvel.

Chan isn’t the only Fantastic Beasts star making her way to the upcoming Marvel instalment. Jude Law has also snagged the role of Mar-Vell. It was previously confirmed that he would play Young Albus Dumbledore in the franchise set pre-Harry Potter. Other Captain Marvel confirmed cast members include Brie Lawson as Captain Marvel and (of course) Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Chan has a number of interesting projects coming up.

As well as Captain Marvel, Chan has a number of interesting projects coming up. She will play Bess of Hardwick in an upcoming take on Mary, Queen of Scots, which is currently in post-production. She is currently filming for a series adaptation of Watership Down, where she will play Dewdrop.

She isn’t currently listed for any future Fantastic Beasts movies, but that isn’t too surprising. The news for those movies has been held extremely close to the chest, with most of the actors not knowing if they will be in future instalments! It doesn’t look like she’ll be in the second movie, set for release later this year.
