Parks and Recreation’s cast and crew come to the defense of Leslie Knope over NRA GIF
The NRA used a Leslie Knope GIF and, much like characters on Parks and Recreation, the cast, crew and fans was not having it.
For those who love and miss Parks and Recreation, the NRA choosing a Leslie Knope GIF to make their point wasn’t the best decision. Why? Well, Leslie Knope would almost certainly go door to door and scream at every member of the NRA as well as those who accept their donations for what is happening in the world currently.
But that’s not the best part of this story. Mike Schur, creator of the show, decided to call them out by asking the NRA to take it down and even including a bit where he texted Amy Poehler about it. From there, the rest of the cast and crew (along with some fans) called out the NRA using GIFs and quotes from the show. Adam Scott was among them.
The best part are those saying that the NRA missed an easy Ron Swanson reference, but I disagree. Ron Swanson is a man who hates the government. So why would he support the NRA, an organization that gives money to politicians? In short, he probably wouldn’t. (And Nick Offerman tweeted defending Leslie Knope, too.)
Honestly, no one in the main Parks and Recreation team would agree with this tweet or use of GIF. Jeremy Jamm is probably the only one who would think it was cool, other than the random citizens of Pawnee, Indiana.
You know what this entire interaction makes me miss? This show. Parks and Recreation was just one of those television shows that brought a light to the world in a way that I’ve missed since its finale. But maybe with all the reboots happening around the world, we’ll get little glimpses of Parks and Recreation some day soon.

If not, well, at least we have Mike Schur and company coming to the defense of Leslie Knope still to this day.
