Why did no one in the Olympics do their figure skating to Harry Potter?

In the Olympics this year, we have our fair share of movie scores but there seems to be a shocking lack of Harry Potter music represented.

The Olympics have allowed figure skaters to use songs with lyrics. Which is a relatively new thing for the competition. But what is surprising is that many skaters have opted out of using the score from Harry Potter in their skates.

Is this weird to me because I’m obsessed with the Olympics? Yes. But that doesn’t change the fact that there are 3 different short programs set to the same song. I just think that if they wanted to be original, someone could have gone out there and performed using a Harry Potter medley.

There’s just a sort of magical quality to figure skating that I think would translate well with Harry Potter. Do I think that anyone is going to do it any time soon? No, I think the time for our Potter love to hit the ice might have passed.

But it is still a nice program to think about. Just out on the ice while “Hedwig’s Theme” plays, making us all remember that Hogwarts is always there to welcome us home. Pretty incredible right? Well, never say never. Who knows! Maybe one year, a kid who picked up Harry Potter after the fact will go to the Olympics.

We just want to have a magical short program to something from Harry Potter.

Now, I’m sure that somewhere, there is a Potter inspired program. But I’ve yet to see one hit Olympic ice. So maybe we should make that a goal for the 2022 season? Go and have your dreams come true and go to the Olympics. But only if you promise to skate to any of the Harry Potter score.
