Taylor Swift is Universal’s Biggest Artist of 2017

Even after a long hiatus and just putting out a brand new album, Taylor Swift still manages to become the biggest artist of the year, especially in Universal’s camp.

While 2018 is still just getting started, there’s still quite a bit of chatter about how successful Swift’s comeback was in 2017, and sure enough, it was just as successful as everyone anticipated, if not, more. According to Vivendi, a partner with Universal Music Group, it was a commercial triumph.

Universal’s year-end 2017 figures were issued last week, determining which artists generated the most revenue throughout the year. Sure enough, Miss Swift was No.1, followed by Kendrick Lamar (2), Drake (3), The Weeknd (4), and Luis Fonsi (5). Not only was Swift the biggest artist, but her sixth studio album reputation was the biggest selling record release of the year.

Other artists featured in the top 10 include, Sam Smith, The Beatles, Post Malone, and Imagine Dragons. Many of these artists had a successful 2017, but we think it’s safe to say that no one can triumph over the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer. She’s the reigning queen of pop and even after a long hiatus, she has proven that she can come back anytime and still reign the music industry. If that’s not longevity, we don’t know what is.
