While one ship seems fairly expected, another for Solo: A Star Wars Story could have multiple uses or appearances in the movie.

Warning: Some minor spoilers for Solo: A Star Wars Story are below.

When it comes to trying to figure out what the plot of any given Star Wars movie is, it never hurts to look at what’s being released as tie-in merchandise. These items often give away new clues to what’ll happen in the film in question. New information can also end up leading to new theories. Case in point: Star Wars News Net’s find of a thread on Reddit that shows fresh tie-ins for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

SWNN points out that the Imperial Hauler has actually made appearances in trailers already. As a result, it makes for the less interesting of the two. We will, however, make the observation that Imperial/First Order ships really like that vertical wing design, since it feels like a nod to the Lambda shuttles. If it’s on purpose, it’s quite clever and subtle.

The Imperial Arrestor Cruiser sparks more interest, frankly. SWNN speculates that it could be used as a “tractor beam type ship.”

Just by the name, that’s a reasonable guess. The several different dishes don’t really look like cannons, which would be another source of stopping power. However, we haven’t seen this ship in action just yet. Does it feature later in the film, as a response to some criminal activity? Or is it something that we see Han on during his days in the service of the Empire?

While the old canon had Han as a TIE pilot for some period of time, it’s possible that a stint on this sort of ship is his first assignment. However, a double appearance might actually make a degree of sense.

If Han has working knowledge of the Arrestor’s capabilities, then he can work around them later. Having prior knowledge is a time-honored Star Wars tradition, from Luke’s familiarity with X-Wings coming from his landspeeder to Finn knowing what to do on Starkiller Base thanks to being in maintenance.
