What is the stance on Fantastic Beasts among Potter fans?

With all the drama surrounding Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them: The Curse of Grindelwald, the question remains: Is everyone over it?

When Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them came out, many fans were excited for a rebirth of the Harry Potter series. But with the news surrounding the movie getting more and more muddled, many fans seemed to have turned away from the sequel.

First, there was the drama with the casting of Johnny Depp. Many fans did not like the casting and hated that he continued to play the role despite their anger. From there, it didn’t exactly seem to get much better.

The latest was the news that Dumbledore would not be portrayed as homosexual (or at least not openly so). Many fans hoped that with this new movie, we’d see a gay Albus Dumbledore. But David Yates talked about how Dumbledore wasn’t going to be ‘explicitly gay’ in the sequel.

Which then opens us up to ask what the point of this series is then. Most of us came into the Fantastic Beasts movies hoping to see what a younger, gay Dumbledore was like before he became Headmaster but it seems like they’re just going to give us the Dumbledore we know but slightly younger.

Which I guess is fine but we could have just had that in flashbacks in the original Harry Potter series and been fine. All that being said, we’re going to have to wait and see what Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them: The Curse of Grindelwald actually covers.

Next: Sirius Black is my favorite character and I just want to talk about him

Because looking at the spoilers, it almost seems like we’re just getting more of a story we know with some new characters rather than the story we wanted surrounding Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.
