Solo: A Star Wars Story has its first (official) look at a LEGO set

Although leaks showed that this LEGO set for Solo: A Star Wars Story definitely existed, there are now high-quality photos for the new Millennium Falcon.

It’s never a bad idea to keep an eye on LEGO’s sets for major films — whether it’s via leaks for Avengers: Infinity War or official announcements like this morning’s, which is not for Marvel but another Disney property. That’s right, we’re talking about Star Wars, and more specifically, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

After all, what is Han Solo without his iconic ship, the Millennium Falcon? It’s right up there with X-Wings and TIE Fighters (and the Death Star, but that’s a battle station, definitely not a moon) in terms of easily recognized fictional spaceships. There was no way the Falcon wouldn’t appear in Solo.

So, behold: The “Kessel Run Millennium Falcon” LEGO set, headed to stores in April. It’ll run $169.99 and has just over 1,600 pieces:

Pretty snazzy, eh? Han looks very serious in the cockpit over there. Granted, leaks showed that this set would exist, showed the minifigs that would accompany it, and sparked speculation that we would see the Kessel Run, but it’s still the best look so far we’ve had of this set. Moreover, it’s official confirmation of what was only suspected before. Speaking of those minifigs, though, let’s get into them:

Check out that molding on Chewie. That’s some nice detailing.

Qi’ra also looks good — she has a better jacket than Han, that’s for sure.

This minifig definitely looks more like Harrison Ford than Alden Ehrenreich, and we have no complaints about it.

Per the accompanying press release, this is a Kessel droid. Again, it’s got some snazzy detailing there — some rust-like paint is on its legs and chest.

Lando is still the smoothest character in this entire movie, and that extends to his minifig. Look at that cape. It’s a good cape.

And here’s the official product description:

"Outsmart the villainous overseers and escape the Kessel Mines aboard the amazing Millennium Falcon! Pull amazing maneuvers from the cockpit. Jump in the laser turrets and fire back at pursuing craft. Then check the hyperdrive and get ready to jump to safety! After all that excitement, kick back with Han and his friends with a drink from the bar, while you let Chewbacca win at Dejarik. Then it’s off to bed for a well-earned snooze in the bunk aboard the fastest ship in the galaxy!"

That same press release also promises two additional figures. Leaks have suggested who they are — a Quay Tolsite and a droid by the name of DD-BD, but this official press release doesn’t confirm or deny either way.
