15 unconventional TV couples that probably shouldn’t have worked

Dexter and Deb Morgan — Dexter
Arguably the relationship with the highest yuck factor on this list, Dexter and Deb’s relationship is just a (horrible) symptom of a really messy eighth season. Although both Dexter and Deb have terribly tragic love lives on their own, it was just wrong — downright criminal — to make Deb realize she has feelings for her brother. Sure, Dexter is just an adopted brother, but a brother nonetheless. Gross.
The show was mostly off the rails by this point, and thankfully Deb abandons her feelings shortly after realizing her brother-lover was a serial killer. Aside from Dexter’s “hobby,” it’s pretty disgusting that any writer in the room would think pairing up siblings would be a good idea, even for a sociopath.
Even if we could over look their kinship, we could probably never accept anyone except Rita as Dexter’s true love. It took him long enough to realize he could have actual feelings for another human, but when he did, we were certainly glad it was Rita, not his sister. Seriously, we’re shuddering forever.
