15 unconventional TV couples that probably shouldn’t have worked

Jamie and Claire Fraser — Outlander
It’s not every day that a couple has to fight the space-time continuum to be together. But Jamie and Claire’s unusual love story cannot be stifled by insignificant things like the laws of physics. Their love is so imposing, that it not only brought them together through 200 years and 3000 miles, it also endured 20 years of separate pining and aching to be with one another.
Aside from the time travel, Claire and Jamie would be an unconventional matchup in any time they were together. Claire, a modern and progressive woman, had far more opinions than Jamie thought a woman should when they first met. In fact, fans might remember when he tried to put her over his knee for a honest-to-goodness spanking. Of course Claire wasn’t having any of that, and she promptly put Jamie in his place.
Jamie is also much more traditionally masculine than she is used to as well. Her long suffering husband-from-another-era put up with far more than Jamie would, and allowed Claire much more latitude in her moods and temperament. It seems like the two would constantly clash, but somehow, they’ve transcended all the bickering and become one of the most iconic, although unlikely, couples out there.
