Kermit and Miss Piggy — The Muppets
These two are a multi-generational power couple, although you can’t really explain their magic. She’s a spoiled, pampered princess; he’s a level-headed, compassionate ally who is her constant supporter and biggest fan. It seems like their relationship would be teeming with resentment and anger, but they have a love that has spanned the decades. Yes, they may be broken up now, but they had a solid 30 years together.
The relationship started as pretty one-sided, and those often don’t go the distance. Miss Piggy, obsessed with Kermit, was determined to have him for her own. She often schemed, lied, and cajoled him into a relationship. It’s rumored that she even brought in a real minister on set to trick him into marrying her. She was always much more convinced that they belonged together than Kermit, and it took some convincing to get him on board.
Once she did, they had many good years together, enjoying the single longest inter-species relationship ever. Although they never actually married, they appeared in hours and hours of television together, cementing their fate as one of the most iconic couples in TV history.
Their split was inevitable. As celebrity and fame changed, she wanted to change with it, acquiring her own hashtag and trending daily. Kermit, on the other hand, just wanted to blend in with the ordinary things. They might never get back together, but they will forever be one of the most important couples of the modern era.
