Cookie and Lucious Lyon — Empire

This seems like a pretty obvious claim to make, if you ask me. Who in the world would ever root for this couple? I’ve lost count of all times these two have betrayed, double-crossed, schemed against, and sabotaged the other. If you didn’t know any better, you would think they are sworn enemies — which they have been in the past.

These two not only do incredible emotional damage to each other, but lots of times they are physically trying to kill each other. Whether it’s with a bat, a gun or another woman, these two will definitely wind up in a homicide case (yet again). And it’s most likely going to be because one of them tried to murder the other.

I know they have “history” and they are a “family,” but this is the most volatile couple I’ve ever seen on television. Our contemporary attitudes about love and devotion have skewed our ideas about what “true love” looks like, and the Lyons are a perfect example of this.

Any two people who actively work to make the other one miserable and devastated probably shouldn’t get together. Also, any couple that traffics in physical violence as the go-to dispute resolution tactic should probably consider moving on. In an ideal world, they could continue to be business partners, but nope, this isn’t love anymore.
