The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino are trying to make a guest appearance happen

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel debuted a stunning, award-winning season on Amazon last November, but there’s one thing still missing: Lauren Graham.
When The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel first debuted, I was stunned at how wonderful it was. Despite taking place in the ’50s, it is a thoroughbred Amy Sherman-Palladino top-notch production stallion that is both very Gilmore and not at the same time. The second audiences met the wise-cracking and fast-talking Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) at the center of Mrs. Maisel, the comparisons between her and Gilmore Girls‘ Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) were drawn very quickly.
Though Brosnahan can seamlessly inhabit the essence of Lorelai, there’s still a possibility that Gilmore fans will be able to have their cake and eat it, too. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Graham “has already pitched some of her own ideas” to creator Amy Sherman-Palladino when it comes to a guest appearance on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Sherman-Palladino also admitted that “Lauren wants to be something very specific.”
The obvious answer would be some sort of comedian, and hopefully, not anyone’s mother. But when I think of Graham entering the 1950s New York comedy scene, I can only picture her doing some sort of riff on her time as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls.
Of course, that’s not a bad thing. I’d love to see her get into full performer mode and just really throw caution to the wind. Last year, we watched her swear like a sailor in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9, so if Amy Sherman-Palladino and Lauren Graham can come up with a character that marries the drama of Miss Adelaide and the crassness of Curb, I’d be totally happy.
Truth be told, I really just want to see Brosnahan and Graham just do a walk-and-talk scene with Alex Borstein’s Susie walking behind them in awe trying to figure out if she’s more enamored by their beauty or comedic chops.

And then when they’re done, they take the Amazon bus to Hulu and visit Alexis Bledel in Gilead before time-traveling again to Pittsburgh in the ’80s where they meet with Milo Ventimiglia on This is Us. Then, they open a portal to Hell where they find Jared Padalecki’s Sam Winchester hiding out on Supernatural. And after a huge apocalyptic struggle, the end up in the emergency room where resident doctor Matt Czuchry treats them as Dr. Conrad Hawkins.
I mean, if anyone can write that mind-boggling crossover, it’s Amy Sherman-Palladino.
