Taylor Swift Song of the Week: “Last Kiss”

The Speak Now era was one of the best in Taylor Swift’s career. Her songs were magic and have we mentioned how she wrote all of them by herself?

We could talk about the entire LP Speak Now for days but the one track that we still haven’t been able to get over years later is “Last Kiss”. The most vulnerable and personal track on the album. The picture painted throughout “Last Kiss” is a picture of pain, loss, and heartbreak, a story we can all relate to.

The songstress explains the track as being a letter to somebody she once loved, explaining the things missed in the relationship that once was magical and now broken. It’s a tragic story that Swift paints in a beautiful way.

"The song “Last Kiss” is sort of like a letter to somebody. You say all of these desperate, hopeless feelings that you have after a breakup. Going through a breakup you feel all of these different things. You feel anger, and you feel confusion, and frustration. Then there is the absolute sadness. The sadness of losing this person, losing all the memories, and the hopes you had for the future. There are times when you have this moment of truth where you just admit to yourself that you miss all these things. When I was in one of those moments I wrote this song."

From the melody to the lyrics, everything about “Last Kiss” will stick with you until the end of time. Swift has the master ability to explain a vivid story through song, and that’s exactly what this is in so many ways. It steals your heart and makes you feel exactly how Swift felt. Boyce Avenue, a band famous for covers even redid the track with Megan and Liz.

If you don’t believe that “Last Kiss” will stick with you forevermore, take a listen to the song below and then let us know what you think afterward. We promise it won’t disappoint.
