Is Supergirl really looking for Lois Lane to join the cast?

Daily Planet reporter extraordinaire Lois Lane might soon be coming to a television near you — as part of CW’s Supergirl.

OmegaUnderground, a comic book film-focused website, uncovered what appears to be an audition tape from actress Sarah Ceballos on Vimeo for the part of Lois Lane on what’s believed to be Supergirl.

Ceballos is a young actress with few credits to her name. She would be most well known for her one episode role and producer credit on Sector 17.

There is no word if Ceballos is the only actress being looked at for the part, although sites like Supergirl.tv are reporting that the show isn’t actually planning on adding Lois at this time. That means this is pretty firmly a rumor at this point.

Lois has been mentioned by Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, but has never appeared on the show. Supergirl also introduced Lois’s younger sister, Lucy played by Jenna Dewan Tatum, in season 1. Their father, Sam Lane, played by Glenn Morshower, was the season 1 antagonist.

Lois Lane has most recently been played by Amy Adams in Man of SteelBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.  She has also been popular off screen in recent years, including in Gwenda Bond’s Lois Lane series.

Here’s a transcript of the video:

"Hi, I’m Sarah Ceballos. I’m 5′ 4″ and I’ll be reading for the role of Lois Lane.Reporter-  “Tell me about your relationship with Superman?”Lois – “Well, if I had a dollar for every time somebody asked me that question I’d probably be a millionaire. Just kidding! So, my relationship with Superman is completely unpredictable, I never know when I’m going to see him, he’s always in and out-of-town. But that’s also the fun part about it is that I’m constantly being kept on my toes and surprised. So I’m hoping one day especially honey if you hearing this I’m waiting for that rock on my finger.”Reporter – “And what is it like to meet Supergirl?”Lois – “Well, it’s funny you ask that! Supergirl is very down to earth. She’s kind. I think that it’s great that young ladies today have somebody to look up to. Especially, given the fact we continuously hear that all these predators are coming into the forefront and harassment being a big issue. I think it’s important that they have somebody to look up to.”"

What do you think? I think the young Mexican-American actress would be a great fit for the diverse cast of CW’s Supergirl, and as a reporter by day, I’d be very excited to see Lois Lane join the gang. Lois has always been depicted as hardworking, whip smart and dedicated to justice, which makes her a perfect fit for Supergirl.
