Our very own Sirius Black is killing it! Meaning Gary Oldman is continually winning awards and we couldn’t be prouder of him!

Gary Oldman stars as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour. And while we love him and his work, it seems as if Hollywood does as well. Finally, Oldman is getting the recognition that he deserves for his acting.

The movie itself tells the story of the time during World War II when America wasn’t helping and England was struggling to win. Churchill stuck it through and, in the end, rose victorious. But for that brief moment, it was dark and many thought this would be the end.

Oldman’s performance is transformative and definitely one of the best of the year. And not only did he take home the Golden Globe but he also nabbed the Critics Choice Award as well. So is this the year that Gary Oldman finally takes home the Oscar?

He’s been nominated before. His work in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy got him buzz but not enough to nab the win. So to be quite honest, I think that this is the year that Gary Oldman finally takes home an Academy Award. After seeing this movie, it is a shame that Gary isn’t recognized more often.

The thing about his performances is that you never really see Gary Oldman. He always transforms so completely into the character that you don’t feel as if you’re watching Oldman acting. You’re watching a character embody this world and it is spectacular.
