Is this the name of Emilia Clarke’s character in Solo: A Star Wars Story?
Could the LEGO leaks have revealed just who Emilia Clarke’s character is in Solo: A Star Wars story, or at least given us her name?
There are some minor, maybe-spoilers for Solo: A Star Wars Story going around. We here at Culturess talked about the promotional art the first time around, but it looks like Star Wars News Net has gotten its hands on some higher-quality images of the purported LEGO sets that are supposed to accompany the film.
And, distressingly enough, since there’s only one female minifig (albeit with two variants), as Emilia Clarke is shown to be sporting a similar ponytail to one of the minifigs in that same promo art, we’re led to the conclusion that whoever she is, her name is Qi’ra.
Of course, that doesn’t come with a pronunciation guide, although it’s possible it’s meant to be a vague nod to Rey’s first name in the world of Star Wars — although it was spelled Kira then, no cool q or apostrophe needed.
We don’t know much more than that, although it does appear that she could be sporting some sweet jackets based on the two minifigs that we can see labeled as being Qi’ra. A little Star Wars fashion never hurt.
Her appearance in the promo art also indicated that her character would be quite prominent, as I noted at the time. The fact that she shows up in the LEGO sets at all should likely be taken as another indication that whoever Qi’ra is, she has a big part to play in Han Solo’s story.
Hey, maybe instead of a Solo sequel we’ll get a Qi’ra movie after Clarke is done with Game of Thrones! Okay, that’s probably wishful thinking, but depending on the impression she leaves on audiences, we could definitely see some appearances in books or comics at the very least.
Of course, that doesn’t indicate anything about who she is or what she might be doing in the movie. However, she does look to be dressed similarly to Han — so perhaps she’s another smuggler or criminal? That seems like the most obvious route, and it’s possible she’s also playing the love interest.
In fact, if that is the case, Star Wars might make it canon that Han just generally has a thing for dark-haired women (see also Sana Starros, although she’s not actually married to Han despite her claims, and the obvious Princess Leia) who don’t take any nonsense from him.
Next: Force ghost odds: Who will cameo in Episode IX?
Hopefully, if Qi’ra really is Han’s love interest, then she also gets some moments to shine on her own. We think Clarke’s shown she can handle it with all her work on Game of Thrones.
