Golden Globes predictions: What is going to win in the movie categories
Best Supporting Actress — Motion Picture
If you have not seen I, Tonya yet, I highly suggest stopping whatever you’re doing and going to see it before the Golden Globes tonight. It is funny, boundary pushing, loud, and telling us all the story of what really, maybe, kind of unreliably happened with Tonya Harding, Jeff Gillooly, and Nancy Kerrigan.
So who is going to take home the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe? Hands down Allison Janney. In a movie that makes you hate most of what you’re seeing, there is something so real about Janney’s portrayal of this very real, very out there woman.
She’s not only scary, but she brings LaVona Harding to life in a way that makes you want to see more of her, but you still hate everything she stands for. It is very strange but works perfectly with the film, and Janney is giving us one amazing performance.
The twist could be that Laurie Metcalf takes it for her work in Lady Bird, which would be a win that I wouldn’t be angry about. Both these ladies are incredible, so really it is either of theirs to win. Too bad that bird wasn’t nominated for his work in I, Tonya though. That’s the real snub.
