Golden Globes predictions: What is going to win in the movie categories

Best Director/Best Screenplay – Motion Picture

Maybe the category for Best Director doesn’t matter since Greta Gerwig and Jordan Peele were left out, but we’re going to have to talk about it anyway and figure out who they’re going to pick. Probably Christopher Nolan for his war epic picture Dunkirk. Which was fine.

What should win is Jordan Peele’s direction for Get Out. But he wasn’t nominated because maybe the committee was blind? Or if Nolan doesn’t win (and they pick someone who actually made an incredible movie) I hope that the Golden Globe goes to Guillermo Del Toro for The Shape of Water.

But now Best Screenplay is where it gets tricky. Jordan Peele should have also been nominated in this category, but Greta Gerwig did get recognized for her work on Lady Bird. So while I don’t necessarily think they’re going to give her the win, she is my pick for Best Screenplay.

I get it, this year was hard. There were a lot of good movies out there but then also the majority of both these categories are boring. There were so many boundary-pushing films out this year and this is what we have to pick from? Lady Bird should take Best Screenplay though and it is a very deserved win.
