11 things the Harry Potter movies actually did right
Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes
The Weasley twins’ joke shop is an iconic location in the later books, a sanctuary of humor amidst all the darkness. And this setting has since appeared in the films and in Orlando’s Wizarding World theme park. The replicas are as vibrant as the book, and they generate about as much enthusiasm.
In the books, Fred and George Weasley use Harry’s Triwizard winnings to start their own business. After receiving their O.W.L.s, they decide that school is not the path to success for them, and they leave Hogwarts in a blaze of glory. This scene is recreated in the Order of the Phoenix film (though unfortunately, with a certain poltergeist absent from the festivities).
The next time we see the twins, in the books and the films, they’re running a storefront for Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. The trio’s first trip there resembles their visit in the books, right down to the twins’ refusal to give Ron a discount for being their brother.
Even the products on the shelves of the joke shop are taken straight from J.K. Rowling’s writing. Most notable are the Puking Pastilles, part of the Skiving Snackboxes series the twins spend several years developing and testing in the novels.
