While the Harry Potter film adaptations are criticized for deviating from the books, there were a few moments the movies depicted accurately.

It’s a known fact among book lovers that film adaptations rarely ever live up to the original content. When movies do stick closely to the book material, they’re lauded in the book community. But this is a rarer occurrence than you’d think. Even bestselling series like Harry Potter wind up disappointing book fans.

And most diehard Harry Potter fans will not hesitate to say the film adaptations did not live up to the books. There are numerous things, including entire scenes and characters, that the movies left out or got wrong. Countless articles delve into the mistakes made throughout the series, drawing comparisons between the films and the books.

But while the films deviated from some of the original content, they left the overlying plot mainly intact.  And despite their complaints, most fans continued to line up outside of their local movie theaters at midnight, eagerly awaiting the next one. Because whatever their flaws, the Harry Potter films still brought J.K. Rowling’s magical world to life before our eyes

And we do have a lot to thank the films for, including several Universal theme parks and the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them spinoffs.

So I’ll play devil’s advocate here. What did the films do right?
