Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington could play Olivia Pope, But in Space, and we’d watch it.

No, seriously, just call it Scandal: A Star Wars Story, add in some other actors, maybe even some of the ones on this list and watch the money roll in. Offer tie-in wine or something to go along with it, and there’s your merchandising sales for the adults who tune in to TGIT weekly.

Okay, that probably wouldn’t work due to pesky things like copyright, and also Shonda Rhimes ditching ABC for Netflix. Reality can be so cruel, can’t it?

However, if she wanted to play a completely different role — a totally heroic or totally villainous character, for example — we’d still watch her. Star Wars is expanding in the stories it’s telling as the franchise heads into its 41st year, and an actress like Washington could offer something completely new.

Constance Wu

Constance Wu is ridiculously funny, and you’ll see that after about one episode of Fresh off the Boat. But that isn’t the only thing she can do. She’s starring in this year’s Crazy Rich Asians, which also has a more dramatic component.

In her role as Jessica Huang, though, she’s put together a pretty great body of work that shows she can act across a range of emotions. Crazy Rich Asians should help put her more firmly on the cinematic map, and following that up with Star Wars would be completely bonkers.

Honestly, unlike some of the other actors on this list, I don’t have a specific role I’d like to see her play — or if I’d like her to be in the main saga or a spinoff story.

It’s probably because Starring Constance Wu convinced me she could act in anything, even aside from her actual work.
