Taylor Swift Contributes to Times Up Legal Fund

Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, and 300 more women in the entertainment industry have launched an initiative Times Up, aimed at protecting women who are facing sexual harassment in the workforce.

The initiative includes a legal defense fund depending largely on donations from affluent women, as well as a push to legislation to strengthen laws regarding workplace harassment. The movement was started by four CAA agents, Maha Dakhil, Michelle Kydd Lee, Hylda Queally and Christy Haubegger and quickly expanded from there.

The Times Up movement is behind the call for every woman to wear black to the Golden Globes in a sign of solidarity with victims of sexual harassment who have come forth in the past several months. And with that, every woman seems to be participating.

Several females in the industry have donated to the legal defense fund, including the incomparable Taylor Swift, who faced her who sexual harassment trial back in August. Swift recently made a $100,000 donation offline for the fund. The fund Swift has donated to will help subsidize legal help and support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault or abuse while in the workplace. The fund will be administrated by National Women’s Law Center, a national women’s rights legal organization.

Several other women who have donated amongst Swift include Jessica Biel, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Stacey Snider, Dana Walden, Regina King, Felicity Huffman, Megan Ellison, Kate Hudson, Viola Davis, Ava DuVernay, Alicia Vikander, Amy Poehler, Olivia Munn, Jessica Chastain, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, among many others.
