Harry Potter fans: Why we’re so opinionated about everything in this series

Have you ever had a conversation with another Harry Potter fan and realized that you’re fighting over something stupid? It’s probably because we love this series too much.

Being a Harry Potter fan means that you have quite the set of opinions about the series. But that’s honestly a good thing. We as fans have loved this since we were children (if you’re part of the Harry Potter generation).

So when it comes to talking about aspects of this story, we get very impassioned. Again, it isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it is what makes us so strong as a fandom. We continue to support and question everything that comes out about this world that J.K Rowling built for us.

For many, we’ve spent most our lives being fans of Harry and his friends. We grew up reading of their adventures and wanting to be a part of this world. So yes, we can get a little testy when someone has a theory that we don’t agree with.

Yes, we get mad if someone compares our favorite character to a less than favorable person. But that’s just because this series feels like it is part of us. We grew up with these characters as our friends and we don’t want to see anyone try and take them down.

So that means that sometimes we, as fans, fight. But that’s only because we want everyone to agree with our view of the series. And that’s what makes us one of the best fandoms out there.

Next: Jamie Parker is coming to Broadway and I’m excited to see his take

So it is great that we, as Harry Potter fans, still love this series so much. It just shows how much it means to us all and why we’re still here, years later, wanting more and more information about our favorite characters.
