Make sure to celebrate as you reach milestones

Celebrating your wins is one of the best motivators to continue reaching your goals.  Knowing there’s a prize awaiting you is one of the best ways to keep yourself going, and a great way to update others on how you’re doing! It’s great!

However, it can also cause you to falter if you don’t choose your method of celebration wisely. For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, your prize for reaching a milestone probably should not be to eat something you’ve listed as a cheat food. If you’re trying to save money, it probably is not a great idea to buy something large. Stuff like that can help you find your way off the wagon, or even promptly kick you off of it.

Maybe treat yourself by spending time with a loved one, or by giving yourself an at-home spa day, or by settling into that thing you’ve been avoiding reading or watching until you’ve earned it. At this point, you’ve earned it!

At the very least, you can definitely humblebrag on Facebook about how awesome you are doing with your goals. Treat yourself a little. Maybe that will be the motivation that someone else needs to keep going!
