6 tips to make your New Year’s resolution stick
Get a buddy!
“F is for friends who do stuff together,” right? Why not ask a friend to join you for the harder parts of your resolution? It’ll help you stay accountable, and make it easier.
This is especially relevant for if you want to do things like read more or go to the gym a few times a week. Having a friend that’s reading the same thing can motivate you to read it so you can talk about it. Having a gym buddy can force you to go to the gym like you planned to, instead of going home. Having a support system to cheer you on, even if they don’t go with you, is so important.
However, be careful not to blame your buddy if you fall off the wagon, which is honestly inevitable. We are all human, and we all mess up. If you blame other people instead of yourself, everybody ends up unhappy, and you’ll be less likely to actually do what you need to do to make your resolutions happen.
No one else is in charge of your future. That’s yours and yours alone to change. But a friend can help you make it a lot more fun while you do change it.
