6 tips to make your New Year’s resolution stick
Keep track of what you’re working on
A great way to know that you’re doing well is to have some way of tracking it. You can do this in a wall calendar or journal, in a fitness app like Health or Fitbit, or even in Google Docs.
For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, you can track your eating habits or your weigh ins however often you want to do them in any of these methods.
Set some clear, realistic goals for yourself on how to make your large resolution happen. I’m using Mint for my savings goal, since it’s the easiest way for me to track all of my spending and saving. This is also helpful for me to communicate with my fiancé about where our finances are.
Chances are that you, like me, have thought about this way ahead of New Year’s Eve, so why not get your tracking set up ahead of time?
Inc.com suggests figuring out what works to motivate you:
"If you’re extrinsically motivated, you’re probably compelled to action by forces outside of yourself — it might be easier for you to work out if your friends encourage you to join them at the gym, for example. If you’re intrinsically motivated, then you might go to the gym on your own because you love how you feel after you work out — in other words, the motivation comes from inside."
