25 feel-good shows to start 2018 off right

iZombie
The premise: An ambitious young doctor gets scratched by a weirdo at a party and subsequently becomes a zombie herself. Olivia Moore, (Rose McIver) once a promising young surgeon, has to change the trajectory of her life after she realizes she’s contracted a virus that makes her among the undead. But she’s not the gross, foot-dragging and moaning sort. In the iZombie universe, zombies are functioning folks with a taste for brains along with white hair and skin. Oh, and eating a person’s brain gives you flashes into their memories. This is very handy for Liv’s job as a medical examiner, since she can help solve crimes.
Why it’s so good: It’s quirky and frothy, and you don’t have to emotionally invest in this show. Although there are some moments that will tug at your heart strings, you mostly get to watch a smart, pretty girl run around solving crimes, and basically being the boss of everyone in her life. It’s a total guilty pleasure, that you don’t really have to feel all that guilty about.
Come for the abs and cheekbones, and stay for the clever premise, rapid dialogue and Veronica Mars nostalgia. It’s the kind of show that you could feasibly binge the entire series and not feel gross about yourself in the morning.
How to watch: Seasons 1 through 3 are available on Netflix.
