25 feel-good shows to start 2018 off right

Superstore
The premise: Superstore is another workplace comedy but it’s set inside a Midwestern big box store that is probably meant to mimic Walmart. It’s an ensemble cast, led by America Ferrera as Amy and Ben Feldman as Jonah. Most of the main action takes place in the store, and it’s really about how these handful of folks make the most of a pretty boring job. There is nothing too melodramatic or exciting about their lives, and they deal with everyday stuff like divorce, severe weather, and lay-offs. There’s a will they/won’t they component to Jonah and Amy’s relationship, however, that does provide a little suspense.
Why it’s so good: It’s got something for everybody, and it’s extremely inclusive. With its spotlight on a working class array of characters, it offers one of the few honest, funny, interesting look at the true middle class. Of course, the show makes this feel like a secondary objective, as it consistently delivers humor, wit, and heart from week to week.
Even though it offers one of the most diverse casts on network television, it is singularly relatable to fans. It really is the kind of show that everyone can watch and enjoy. Amy and Jonah remind audiences of the early Office days when Pam and Jim where still figuring their stuff out, and it’s fun to watch something unfold that you know is going to be a big deal in the long run.
How to watch: You can catch up on all the latest episodes, including the first half of season 3, on Hulu.
