The Darkest Hour tells the story of Winston Churchill during World War II and Gary Oldman is incredible in it. And now, he’s getting Oscar buzz!

Gary Oldman is no stranger to getting Oscar buzz. From Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to now, he’s always in talks where people praise his work. So will he finally take home the Academy Award for his work as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour?

The film focuses on the time when England seemed to be losing World War II. The United States still hadn’t joined and all their planes were seemingly useless. Churchill needed a miracle and he stuck it out, making history and a name for himself in the process.

Gary’s performance as Churchill is riveting because he makes him human. Part of the problem with a figure like Winston Churchill is that so many see a side of him and run with it. They don’t paint the full picture. With Oldman, he brought to life this funny man who was only trying to do what he thought would win the war.

The movie itself is an incredible look at World War II and what everyone went through and it is nice to see this new side to Winston Churchill that we hadn’t really seen before. And Gary Oldman was almost unrecognizable in the movie! It was just overall incredible and we hope that he gets the recognition that he deserves!
