There is a common theme in all of Taylor Swift’s six studio albums and earlier this week, it was uncovered.

According to a report by Hello Giggles on December 23, Swift makes a nod to one dress or another in each of her six albums, including her latest studio album, Reputation, which includes an entire song titled “Dress.”

When did the dress theme first start?

Days ago, the outlet revealed that Swift’s dress theme began in 2006 with her first self-titled album, Taylor Swift, which included a lyric about a little black dress on her track “Tim McGraw.” Two years later, with the release of Fearless, Swift sang about her best dress in her song of the same name.

In 2010, Speak Now included lyrics about heartbreak, starting with the track that was believed to have been inspired by John Mayer, “Dear John.” As fans will recall, Swift briefly dated the musician years ago and reportedly sang about how he broke her heart and made “the girl in the dress” cry the whole way home.

Following her heartbreak, Swift returned to the positive side of love with 2012’s Red. On the album, she sings about a girl spinning around in a brand new dress as she and her partner enjoyed a big city to themselves. Years later, in 2014’s 1989, Swift again spoke of the happy aspects of her love life when she encouraged a lover to remember her “standing in a nice dress” and “staring at the sunset” in “Wildest Dreams.”

What did Taylor Swift sing about in ‘Dress’?

In one of her latest tracks, “Dress,” which is featured on Reputation, Swift channels a sexier side of herself, singing, “Carve your name into my bedpost / ‘Cause I don’t want you like a best friend / Only bought this dress so you could take it off.”
