The Greatest Showman probably would have killed the circus if it wasn’t dead

Ever get so excited about a movie you want to jump for joy? Well, that was me waiting for the Greatest Showman until I saw it and it was absolutely terrible.

So, The Greatest Showman didn’t save 2017 like a lot of us thought it would. In fact, it didn’t even save the circus. To be quite honest, I’d think that the circus would have crashed and burned if this movie came out while it was still around.

So twice, my circus loving self had to watch the circus die right before my eyes. Is this all to say that The Greatest Showman is bad? Bad is the understatement of the year. Let me put it this way: this movie has no plot and if you called it I Have a Loan from the Bank it would be more accurate.

My friends and I continually call movies that bring us joy but are probably not the best movies “our circus musicals”. We thought that The Greatest Showman was going to make us cry. Instead, I saw red and realized my circus musical was actually I, Tonya, so go figure.

I just don’t understand how this movie was made and how no one stopped to say “Hey, four of these characters aren’t even named throughout the majority of the movie and it is more about how Hugh Jackman wants to sleep with a fake opera singer”.

So should you go see this movie? If you have MoviePass, sure, because you’re not wasting your money. But otherwise, go see I, Tonya or Jumanji or literally anything else because this is not going to bring you joy.
