A shipper’s guide to Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Kylux (Kylo Ren/General Hux)
Kylux is another ship that has divided fans and surprisingly, it ranked slightly higher than Reylo in terms of how much it was talked about on Tumblr in 2016.
When all is said and done, it doesn’t look any healthier than Reylo. Kylo Ren has a terrible temper, to put it mildly, and we’re not sure he’s entirely capable of loving someone the way they deserve. Kylo Ren regularly Force chokes General Hux and we have absolutely no sign that the red-headed leader enjoys it.
There’s also a worrisome (potentially toxic) power dynamic at work between the two First Order operatives, and that only intensifies as a result of what happens in The Last Jedi. With Supreme Leader Snoke literally in pieces, Kylo Ren takes up his mantle, and there’s more than a little tension between he and Hux as they vie for power.
But the fact that they are vying, and continue to struggle for supremacy even after Kylo has taken the crown, means that perhaps things are more equal between them than Kylo would have us believe.
At least, Kylux shippers can be happy that they are still together. They have common aims, and though Kylo’s are a little more personal, they are perhaps the only two people left who understand what it’s like to lead the First Order. With great power comes great responsibility and all that, and only they can share the burden.
With Snoke’s death and and only each other to turn to, it’s fair to say there may be something there that wasn’t there before.
