Mindy Kaling is an inspiration this week

Mindy Kaling is taking over the world one day at a time. And now, she’s doing so with her daughter Katherine Kaling!

Yesterday, Mindy Kaling had quite the day. Not only did the trailer for Ocean’s 8 drop after an impressive TIME Magazine spread for A Wrinkle in Time, but Mindy also welcomed a baby girl into the world! So why is this somewhat old news important?

Well, her daughter’s name is Katherine Kaling. Mindy did it on her own (from what we can tell) and that is honestly very inspiring. For so many, their dreams of having a career and children are limited to finding marriage and going from there.

But as far as we know, Mindy is doing this alone. She’s not romantically linked to anyone, and the fact that her daughter’s name is Katherine Kaling has our hearts aflutter. Not only is it important to recognize that Mindy is making all her dreams a reality, but it is a nice reminder that we, as women, don’t have to be stuck without children if we want them.

So often, women are told they have to choose. Love, marriage, and children or a career. But Mindy is showing women everywhere that you can, feasibly, have it all. Is it unconventional? By the old society standards, yes. But it is 2017 and everything is changing.

The world is our oyster and Mindy helps show us all that we can have all we wanted and more. Thank you for being absolutely incredible, Mindy!
