The Last Jedi: Rose Tico is one of the best Star Wars characters and we love her

There is a lot of discussion about the character of Rose Tico in the Last Jedi. And we’re here to tell everyone that she’s one of the best characters.

Rose Tico is a new character to the Star Wars canon. Played by Kelly Marie Tran, many felt a connection to her and her story. So why do some people seem to hate her on the Internet? Mainly because it is men who are crying about the diversity and women in Star Wars but I’d like to take this moment to point out the importance of women to the Star Wars franchise.

From the beginning, it has always been about women leading the Resistance. Don’t believe me? Well, Leia literally is the reason the Resistance exists. So why the sudden hate for Rose? Probably because she continued to save people and work to honor her sister, who died a hero.

But for whatever reason, she’s seen as a weak character. I honestly think it is exclusively because she’s a woman of color. Is that a broad statement? Yes but I think that it isn’t too far off. She’s a wonderful character who has to deal with the death of her sister, working towards helping the Resistance and doing her best.

She’s sweet, she continues to help Finn, and it is just a pretty great storyline. I can’t begin to understand the hate towards her. Maybe people just don’t like that the main Luke Skywalker figure is a woman. Maybe they wanted Rose to be a man. Or maybe they just don’t see her importance.

Whatever the case may be, Rose Tico is definitely one of the best new characters and we’re lucky to have her.
