Four wines for the Elven Kings of The Lord of the Rings and you!

Have you ever looked for the perfect wine for your book club?  How about for your Lord of the Rings read or watch along? If you have, you are in luck.

Even though we non-Middle Earth citizens can’t actually travel to The Prancing Pony, if we move quickly, we can get four different limited edition character-themed vintages based on characters from The Lord of the Rings, according to Entertainment Weekly. They don’t come in pints, to the depression of Merry and Pippin, but they might be just the thing for you!

Frodo’s wine is a 2016 Frodo Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel, that is described as “as honest and pure as a Hobbit’s heart.” This “reliable” red wine is described as having “vibrant flavors of blackberry, fig and spiced plum [carrying] through to the warm, pleasing finish of this reliable wine.”

Galadriel of the golden hair’s blend “will imbue an immediate sense of devotion,” just as the Lady of Lórien herself does. The 2016 Galadriel Bordeaux Blanc is described as high-toned “with piercing citrus flavors and remarkable concentration.”

Aragorn’s wine is apparently fit for a King, designed to be “rich, concentrated and built to last, this intensely expressive wine displays black-fruit flavors and polished tannins.” The 2015 Aragorn Appellation Lussac — St. Émilion Contrôlée is a blend of wines: 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. It’s from Lussac-St.-Émilion appellation which was once the site of historic battles and dreams of victory.

Gandalf’s wine is a subtle yet complex red that is “spirited and persuasive, with black raspberry, alpine strawberry, and forest floor flavors casting a spell over your palate, bringing you back sip after sip.” The 2016 Gandalf Monterey County Pinot Noir may be just as striking as Gandalf’s annual Hobbiton fireworks.
