The SAG Awards are having all female presenters and should others follow suit?

With all the controversy in Hollywood this year, the SAG Awards decided to make it an all female presenting kind of night. Should others join in?

The SAG Awards made quite the announcement today. For this year’s ceremony, only women will be presenters. And in a year of Hollywood mistakes and women being at the forefront of change, it is a nice thing to see.

So will others follow suit? I think they should. Look, we can all agree that 2017 is pretty crazy. Especially for women and even more so if you’re a woman in Hollywood. From Weinstein to Spacey to Louis C.K and more, it was the year of women speaking out and speaking loudly.

Imagine, if you will, a Golden Globes and an Academy Awards where only the amazing women of Hollywood take on presenting the awards. Where the struggles of the last year are pushed aside for a night and we can praise these amazing women.

Right now, it seems as if the SAG Awards are the only ones attempting something like this. And that’s fine but maybe other award shows will see how amazing it is and follow suit for the next year. Like let’s not have Casey Affleck handing out an Oscar.

Who do we hope gets to present at the SAG Awards? Well, first off, I’m looking forward to Daisy Ridley and Laura Dern presenting together and then maybe Margot Robbie and Gal Gadot taking the stage. What if we had Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson give out an award, and then after them, Tiffany Haddish and Gina Rodriguez took to the stage? It honestly sounds like a night in heaven!
