Donald Trump slammed Kirsten Gillibrand in a misogynistic tweet, calling the senator a “lightweight” who would “do anything” for contributions.

Kirsten Gillibrand will not be silenced. The senator from New York hit back at Donald Trump for his “sexist smear” when the president lashed out at her on Twitter and said she would “do anything” for campaign contributions after she called for his resignation amidst renewed interest in his sexual harassment and assault allegations.

Trump, of course, was accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen women during the 2016 election. However, he still won the election.

But thanks to the Me Too movement, more and more women are being heard and believed and more and more men like Harvey Weinstein and Al Franken are being held accountable for their actions.

This has led to renewed interest in allegations against the president. Three of Trump’s alleged victims came forward on Monday to publicly reaffirm their accusations against Trump and Gillibrand called for Trump’s resignation. Another also spoke out Tuesday morning.

Unsurprisingly, the president slammed the senator in a tweet laced with innuendo, saying that Gillibrand was a “lightweight” who would “do anything” for campaign contributions from him.

“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked – USED!” he wrote.

Trump also tweeted a denial of both collusion with Russia and the sexual misconduct accusations. “Despite thousands of hours wasted and many millions of dollars spent, the Democrats have been unable to show any collusion with Russia – so now they are moving on to the false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don’t now and/or have never met. FAKE NEWS!” he wrote.

But Gillibrand is anything but a lightweight. She refused to back down and quickly hit back at Trump and said she and other women refused to be silenced by him anymore.

“You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office,” she tweeted.

“It was a sexist smear attempting to silence my voice, and I will not be silenced on this issue,” she also said, according to The New York Times. “Neither will the women who stood up to the president yesterday.”

Other senators also quickly rallied around Gillibrand and condemned Trump’s tweet. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii accused Trump of being a “misogynist and admitted sexual predator and a liar,” while Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts slammed Trump for trying to “bully, intimidate and slut-shame” Gillibrand.
