Walt Realizes The Money Is Gone —Breaking Bad
In the scope of things Walter White has done, most should be characterized far graver than just a “meltdown.” However, before he became “the danger” or “the one who knocks” he was a low-level drug dealer scrambling to stay ahead of the bad guys and villains. Back when Walt was still wearing that tan windbreaker, he was still capable of legitimate human emotion — namely stress.
This particular freakout concerned money, as most all freakouts do, and the fact that his wife Skylar gave away a huge sum of money that was allotted for other things. Trapped under the house, frantically looking for the money he stashed there, he comes apart with the realization that it’s not there any more. He yells, screams, and just has an all-around anxiety induced meltdown. Even though we know Walt is a terrible human, we feel a little sorry for him in this moment of realization.
While most of us don’t have huge meth-debts piling up or scary drug-distributors pressuring usfor payment, we can all understand the desperation of not having enough money. With the holidays quickly approaching, I predict a Walt-esque breakdown in the near future for many of us. Hopefully the majority of us won’t resort to manufacturing methamphetamines, murdering young girls, or plotting to kill our brother-in-laws. But we can learn from his tenacity and willingness to pull himself out of a funk.
