Rebecca and Valencia fall into a social media hole — Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

This doesn’t really fall into the “active” category of a meltdown, and Rebecca has engaged in a lot of extreme behavior, but this might just be the most relatable of all the calamities on the list. Those of you without cyber-sin can cast the first click, my friends. You know we’ve all been there.

Although our cyber-investigations might not have as much commitment as Rebecca’s we can certainly understand the motivation. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is known for translating the inner female monologue into snazzy musical segments, and this bit of digital hysteria not only offers an outlet for Rebecca’s insecurities, but also detailed instructions about how to stalk your crush’s crush.

You obviously start with Instagram, but it’s naturally private. Then you must relentlessly Google-search this girl until you find out where she went to high school, because that’s totally normal behavior. Then you have to find a picture of someone the girl might remember a little bit and use the pic to request access to all her private social media accounts. Just like that, you’re in, but Rebecca, via the made up song in her head, reminds us that it’s not technically stalking because all the information is public.

When you type it all out like that in black and white, it looks a little scary. But it’s not really how it looks. It’s just a little harmless investigation, because we need to know these things, and Rebecca says so. Rebecca and Valencia agree.
