Surfing Santas
Did you know that Santa can hang ten? Right before he takes off on his annual trip around the world, he hits the waves in Cocoa Beach, Florida. On Christmas Eve morning, Santa and several hundred of his Santa helpers paddle out for this annual event, Surfing Santas. From young elves to the ageless man from the North Pole, this annual Christmas Eve event is a sight to see.
The annual free event is held in downtown Cocoa Beach. Starting at 8 a.m., over 600 surfing Santas paddle out into the surf. In addition to the surfing, over 8,000 locals gather to celebrate the holiday and to support local charities.
Over the years, the annual event has grown within the community. The event started as one family who dressed as Santa while surfing on Christmas. The event grew to a huge local charity fundraiser. Two charities, The Florida Surf Museum and Grind for Life, are the beneficiaries for this event. Each year more and more surfing Santas and spectators come to Cocoa Beach to enjoy a little sun, sand and surf on Christmas Eve. To date the event has raised over $60,000 for local charities.
The annual Surfing Santas is a community celebration that embodies the holiday spirit. For a single day, everyone enjoys the moment. It is a time to bring together friends and family in a moment of fun during the holiday season.
Santa deserves a moment or two of diversion before his night. Come join him and his santa helpers at the annual Surfing Santas event in Cocoa Beach. Who needs snow on Christmas Eve?
