Gingerbread House Extravaganza

During the holidays, making a gingerbread house is an annual tradition. Granted more candy can be eaten versus being used as decoration. Still, the iconic gingerbread house is a symbol of the holidays. In Jacksonville, Florida, the Gingerbread House Extravaganza is a huge holiday event.

The annual Gingerbread House Extravaganza is a fundraiser for children’s programs. The Jacksonville Historical Society hosts this special event. Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth, this annual event is worth the visit to support a worthy charity.

A visit to the annual Gingerbread House Extravaganza has guests in awe of the sweet creations. The level of detail is amazing. From traditional houses to enchanted fairy tale landscapes, it is confectionary wonder.

Even more astonishing, some of the gingerbread house creations are made by amateur bakers. From kids to families, everyone is encouraged to submit a “building permit” and join in the holiday gingerbread fun.

The Jacksonville Gingerbread House Extravaganza is held through Dec. 23. It is closed on Sundays. A suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for kids is encouraged.
