Rowling Library finds some false facts in latest edition of Harry Potter

It looks like Rita Skeeter found a job working on Bloomsbury UK’s house editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone — but only if you’re a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.

To help celebrate the anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Bloomsbury UK released some new editions. The stunningly crested books were a huge hit with fans, and now there’s a twist if you’re a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.

The Rowling Library Magazine (via io9) found something weird when they were reading the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw versions of these new, house-specific editions.

“Did you know? Professor Sprout had a long-term relationship with fellow teacher Professor Flitwick. Sadly, it didn’t work out but they remain friends.” (Of course, it applies to both of these houses, since the respective professors are heads of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, respectively.)

The only place that information was found was on a photoshopped College Humor post, full of its signature crude humor regarding the series. Oops! Other faked tweets include one saying that wizards are too conservative to have sex ed classes.

The Ravenclaw edition had another error. It switched out the descriptions for fan-favorite oddball Luna Lovegood and Garrick Ollivander, wandmaker extraordinaire.

Bloomsbury UK responded to a tweet about this from the Rowling Library writer. They said that the errors have been corrected for the next edition.

Interested in buying one that may or may not have this error? You can buy them directly from Bloomsbury UK — Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw alike. (Gryffindors and Slytherins, you can still get editions too, but they won’t have the error.)

Basically, if you have a copy of the first UK printing of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, you may have a collectible in more ways than one!
