8. Finn and Phasma meet again
It appears Captain Phasma has found her way out of the trash compactor and she’s out for revenge. The trailer shows her facing off against Finn, who used to be under her command and was responsible for putting her in the trash compactor in the first place.
<“It’s so good to have you back,” she says in one of the latest teasers, which we can assume is sarcastically directed at Finn upon meeting him again.
We don’t know the timeline of events exactly but we do know that Finn is going to go undercover as a First Order operative with Rose on a mission to the casino city Canto Bight, based off screenshots and new Funkos released earlier in the year.
This has got to be hard for Finn, who, as we mentioned earlier, just wants to escape at this point.
“Well, it’s like imagine you work at McDonald’s. You push your manager into a chute compactor and then a year later you decide to go back dressed as one of the colleagues. It’s not the best situation,” Boyega told IGN. “There’s a lot of chasing, there’s a mission that needs to be completed but that isn’t necessarily something that doesn’t come without a fight and it’s something that he’s gonna have to face for himself.”
As with Rey, it also seems like we might learn a little bit about Finn’s past and how he came to be under Phasma’s command in the first place, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“We will learn more about his past and where he came from, and potentially why he made the decision [to escape] that he made,” Boyega told Anthony Breznican. “I’m also very curious. The question that needs to be answered is why he decided to leave as a stormtrooper in the first place. We will find out just a little bit more about him.”
So whilst it doesn’t sound like that is Finn’s main story in this installment, with him facing off against his old boss, there’s a fair chance we’ll be given some inkling about his past, even if means just more details about his job in sanitation. Honestly, we’d be here for that.
