The Last Jedi: 15 things we know about the new Star Wars movie
10. Finn is awake and asking for Rey
Finn is one of the most exciting new characters introduced to us in The Force Awakens, as a stormtrooper who changed sides. The last we saw of him, however, he was in a coma after bravely taking on Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base.
Fortunately, we know that he wakes up. A teaser, entitled “Heroes”, shows Finn waking up in his bacta tank calling for Rey. And when he meets up with Poe, for what we can assume is the first time since Poe greets him with a surprised “You must have a thousand questions”, his first one is indeed about the girl he met on Jakku.
But Finn isn’t looking for her to join the fight — Finn is ready to leave.
“It got really real for him,” Boyega told Entertainment Weekly. “And he just wants to get away and not be involved. His intention in the first place was to go to the Outer Rim. He was always brought back [in The Force Awakens,], but this is his chance to get away and perhaps find Rey and go off together. He’s trying to do that at first.”
This is an interesting direction but we know that Finn is going to be pulled into something much bigger, not least from his new piloting skills being showcased in the trailer.
And FinnPoe fans shouldn’t worry either as we’ve known since the very first character portraits were released that Finn is still wearing his friend’s jacket, given to him in the The Force Awakens.
>We know that Finn is going to be a big player in The Last Jedi. Johnson said that his role would be taken to a “really cool interesting place” during a Q&A on Twitter and that he looked forward to working with Boyega, who has a “magnetic charisma”.
Well, he said it himself: the boy is a big deal.
